We have been living and working in an historic country village just west of the Adirondack Blue Line, at the southern boundary of the Tug Hill region, for over 40 years. Cynthia weaves in an upstairs room of our 1870 Stick Style home, while Art works in his pottery studio behind the house. Along with pottery, weaving, and raising our two sons, we have lovingly restored our vintage home and preserved the appearance of our barn, formerly a livery stable. For both of us, family ties to the Adirondack North Country go back two generations. We have been enjoying outdoor activities in our beautiful region since childhood. Cross country skiing, canoeing, and hiking are shared passions. Art also likes to fish, especially fly fishing for native brook trout. We have a deep connection to our environment. The sights, sounds, textures, and rhythms of the natural world in our garden, in the woods near our home, and in the Adirondack wilderness are reflected in the works we produce. If we lived in another region, the pottery and weaving we create would express different inspirations and styles. |
